Tea Time at the Angelina Tea Room on Rivoli

Article submitted by Cécile Zarokian

While afternoon tea is a quintessentially British tradition, it’s one that Parisians enjoy as well. In Paris, there are plenty of places to enjoy afternoon tea, but none have been able to provide the same opulent experience as the Angelina Tea House on Rivoli.

Apart from the lavish decor in its distinctive Belle Epoque style, every menu item reflects a high standard of luxury. Their tea time menu is no exception. From 3 PM onwards, locals and tourists alike can enjoy the Angelina Tea Time menu which includes a selection of cocktail canapés as well as a selection of mini pastries, mini macarons, and madeleines.

While you would think that tea is the obvious accompaniment to such a spread, many understandably prefer to indulge in the tea room’s signature Old-Fashioned Hot Chocolate “l’Africain.” Coffee is also available to those who prefer it, but we really can’t imagine why anyone would order coffee over their rich, delectable hot chocolate that’s made with three different types of African chocolate. For an extra sum, you can also enjoy afternoon tea with a serving of Champagne Jacquart.

Before you go, purchase a jar of their signature chestnut cream. This is the distinctive ingredient of their famous Mont-Blanc pastry. In Paris, all sorts of delicious bread are available in almost every corner. Enjoy them with some of Angelina’s chestnut cream, and you’ll quickly understand what all the fuss is about. Even better, purchase a bottled version of their hot chocolate to go with it as well.
